Both sides of the leaf have a decorative element, a small snake. Below are two small angels blowing trumpets.

The obverse of the coin carries an image of the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania (Vytis) in the centre and the inscription LIETUVA under it. Below is the year of issue. The coin has a rim, the inner side of which is plain.

The reverse shows the number 5 on the right side. To the left off the number is an ornament shaped in the form of weather-vane, the central element of which is a leaf. On the top of the ornament is a cross. On both sides of the leaf there are decorative elements—small snakes. Below, on both sides off the leaf stalk, are two figures of angels blowing trumpets. In the bottom part of the coin the inscription CENTAI is positioned symmetrically to the vertical axis of the coin. The coin has a rim, the inner side of which is plain.

These coins are made from aluminium. The coins' edge is plain. These coins are the first permanent coins released after the restoration of independence in 1990. Unlike other coins they bear the same date - 1991 - no matter the year of actual production. The design has not changed even though they bear an old version of the Coat of Arms (the horse's tail looks down instead of up, the knight is leaning forward, and other details).
